Spring – Season of the Liver

There are actually preferred times of the year for detoxing the liver. Of course, it’s not unheard of for people to be juice cleansing or liver flushing all year round, but there is a belief, and some proof, that implementing certain detoxes for certain organs is more beneficial when done during certain seasons. For example, Traditional Chinese Medicine sees springtime as the best season to give a little bit of extra TLC to the liver.

With Spring just around the corner, it may be time to consider putting time aside for some liver loving care. Giving the liver a thorough cleansing is no joke! If you’re going to go ahead with a liver flush, you’ll want to be sure to have the guidance of a healthcare professional. Liver flushing is something you should prepare for or your flush could prove to be very difficult.

Oh liver, dear liver, so vibrant and bright,
You work day and night to keep me feeling light.
But sometimes, oh sometimes, you need a little help,
To flush out the toxins that sneak in and dwell.
With a gentle cleanse, you’ll shine once again,
Your energy flowing, free of all strain.
Lemon and olive oil, a soothing embrace,
A little bit of water, to keep up the pace.
Say goodbye to the clutter, the sludge, and the grime,
And welcome a future that’s healthy and primed!
So here’s to the liver, the hero we trust,
With a flush and a smile, feel better, we must! 🌿💧

NOTE: If you have been diagnosed with gallstones, you need to do a 30 day gallstone softening protocol ahead of your flush or you could end up in the hospital with a gallstone lodged in the bile duct.

Liver is responsible for hundreds of jobs and is our main detox organ, meaning that it processes every single thing that enters the body. Unfortunately, sometimes these things aren’t so wonderful which means it also holds a lot of the ‘bad stuff’ our bodies take in. So, detoxing improperly could potentially lead to some nasty side effects.

Liver Flushes We Use

A liver flush protocol typically involves a series of steps designed to help cleanse the liver and gallbladder, aiming to release toxins and promote overall liver health.

Option 1 – FORGIVE Kit combined with Colonics

Our first choice for liver flushing is the FORGIVE kit from ZenCleanz. We use it because it’s a fermented food based cleanse and it’s only one and a half days to complete. For most people, This is a great option. You don’t need to put aside a lot of time, the kit is the most effective that we’ve ever seen, downside is the price. But… it is your health after all.

We recommend booking 2-4 colonics leading up to your flush so your gut is prepared for the elimination. Of those sessions, you may want to put one aside for post-cleanse. Hydration is key following any cleanse and colonics are our preferred way to rehydrate the gut post cleanse.

Results of a liver flush

Option 2 – Andreas Moritz, Dr. Hulda Clark Methods

Here’s a basic outline of a very common and inexpensive liver flush protocol for home. See the shopping list below for your flush. Cherry Juice is a good substitute if Apple is not your thing.

Day 1: Preparation

  1. Dietary Adjustments:
For the day leading up to the flush, it’s recommended to eat light, easy-to-digest foods. Focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and avoid heavy meals, processed foods, and alcohol.
  2. Hydration:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help flush out toxins and stay hydrated.
  3. Optional: Epsom Salt
Some protocols suggest taking a small dose of Epsom salts (1 tbsp Epsom Salts / 1 cup water) to help relax the bile ducts and prepare for the flush.

Day 2: Preparing the Bile Ducts

Apple Juice or Cherry Juice (fresh / organic):
The day of the liver flush, drink apple juice (preferably organic, fresh) throughout the day. The malic acid in apples helps soften gallstones and prepare the liver for flushing.

Day 2: Preparing to Flush

Evening (Before Bedtime):

Epsom Salts

6PM – Mix 4 tablespoons of Epsom salt with 3 cups of water and divide it into 3 servings. Drink the first dose of Epsom salt solution.

Olive Oil & Grapefruit or lemon Juice (or prepare a nice combo)

9:45 P.M. Pour ½ cup (measured) olive oil into the pint jar. Squeeze the grapefruit by hand into the measuring cup through a siv or remove pulp with fork. You should have at least ½ cup. You may use lemons as an option. Add this to the olive oil. Also, add Black Walnut Hull Tincture. If you haven’t gotten stones out in the last few cleanses, add citric acid to bring success.

10:00 P.M. Drink the potion you have mixed. Take 4 ornithine capsules with the first sips to make sure you will sleep through the night. Take eight if you already suffer from insomnia. Drinking through a large plastic straw helps it go down easier. Take it to your bedside if you wish. Get it down within five minutes (15 minutes for very elderly or weak persons). If you had difficulty getting stones out in the past add ½ tsp. citric acid to the potion.

Lie Down
After drinking the oil and juice mixture, lie on your right side with your knees pulled toward your chest. Stay still for 20–30 minutes to allow the flush to work. Sleep!

Day 3: Flushing

Epsom Salts

6AM – Drink another serving of the Epsom Salts solution.

8AM – Take the final serving of the Epsom Salts solution

Post-Flush

  • You may notice the passing of small stones or chaff in your stool, which is part of the flushing process.
  • It’s normal to feel tired or a bit bloated after the flush, so be sure to take it easy and continue hydrating.

Diet After the Flush

  • After completing the protocol, it’s important to ease back into eating with light foods like vegetable broths, soups, or fruits. Gradually return to your normal diet over the next couple of days.

Note: Liver flush protocols vary slightly depending on who you follow, so be sure to adjust based on the method you prefer or consult a health professional before trying any detox.

Whichever method you choose to use, results will happen! Results are generally better with our first choice Option 1, but you may find using Option 2 is just enough for your needs.

We must clean our organs for a fully expressed life. Our bodies need assistance because they are bombarded with so much that they are not equipped to handle. Taking time for your health is such an amazing decision, and we know it can be tough at times. Your body is going to thank you for it, so keep listening to what it needs, and be kind to yourself during the process. You’ve got this!

Remember to take it one step at a time and celebrate the little wins along the way. You’ve got the strength to see this through! 💪🌿
